PHILANTHROPIC RESPONSIBILITY

I. Purpose

  • A.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY’s philanthropy policy outlines our commitment to supporting causes that align with our mission and values, fostering positive change in our communities and beyond. 
  • B.This policy provides guidance for making charitable donations, ensuring responsible and effective use of our resources. 

II. Scope

  • A.This policy applies to all charitable donations made by MAGAZINE DIRECTORY, including financial contributions, in-kind donations, and employee volunteer hours.
  • B.This policy does not cover personal donations made by employees, which are their own decisions. 

III. Eligibility Criteria

  • A.To be eligible for funding, organizations must:
    • (1) Be a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization or equivalent in other countries. 
    • (2) Demonstrate a clear mission and impact in their field. 
    • (3) Have a proven track record of effective program implementation. 
    • (4) Not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, national origin, or other protected characteristics. 
  • B.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY may prioritize funding for:
    • (1) Causes that align with our mission and strategic priorities. 
    • (2) Organizations located in our service area or with a regional/national impact. 
    • (3) Programs that demonstrate innovation and sustainability. 

IV. Donation Procedures

  • A.All donation requests should be submitted through [designated channel, e.g., online portal, email]. 
  • B.A review committee, composed of [list committee members or roles], will evaluate all requests based on the eligibility criteria and funding priorities. 
  • C.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY will provide timely feedback to applicants, whether their request is approved or denied. 
  • D.All donations will be acknowledged with a formal letter or receipt, as appropriate. 
  • E.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY will track the impact of its philanthropic investments and report on its effectiveness. 

V. Gift Acceptance Policy

  • A.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY will accept gifts of cash, property, and other assets, subject to the following:
    • (1) Gifts of real estate will be subject to review by the Executive Committee and may require environmental assessments.
    • (2) Gifts of life insurance where MAGAZINE DIRECTORY is named as both beneficiary and irrevocable owner of the insurance policy will be accepted, with the donor agreeing to pay future premium payments.
    • (3) Gifts of goods and services will be accepted, but must be useful and appropriate for the organization’s needs.
  • B.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY will not accept gifts that:
    • (1) Pose a financial risk to the organization.
    • (2) Are associated with any illegal or unethical activities.
    • (3) Are not in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 

VI. Donor Privacy

  • A.MAGAZINE DIRECTORY holds all communications with donors and information concerning donors and prospective donors in strict confidence.
  • B.All other requests for or releases of information concerning a donor or a prospective donor will be granted only if permission is first obtained from the donor. 

VII. Review and Updates

  • A. This policy will be reviewed and updated annually, or as needed, to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
  • B. Changes to this policy will be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
